I
write to express sincere thanks to
Pacsoft and their team of support and
ancillary staff for the great job they
did in converting our two stores –
Margaret River HOME Timber &
Hardware and Lloyds of Margaret River -
to their new OPTEMIZER PROGRAMME.
Our hardware store had been using the
old Classic system for many years and
felt no need to upgrade as it was doing
an okay job. However after a couple of
scares with backup problems we realised
that we were “playing with fire” in
keeping an old system going without an
adequate alternative should something go
really wrong. We had already upgraded
our smaller gift store to Pacsoft for
Windows some years ago, so after some
consideration and discussions with Andy
Sayer from Pacsoft, we took the giant
step to update both stores to the new
Optemizer programme.
Prior to the changeover, we had Ben (Pacsoft
support/ trainer) come over to Margaret
River and do a three day training
session with the senior managers of both
stores. Following this training, I ran
training sessions each night for a
couple of weeks so all staff were
conversant with the new programme before
installation occurred.
The day of the changeover arrived and
without much disruption to our trading,
Joel and Phil (Pacsoft support team)
installed some 18 new computers with
flat screen monitors and all the
accessories and transferred the data
over from the classic system. We did
have a very late night (or early
morning!!!) as Joel and Phil were
determined to complete the installation
on the one day. The next two days Joel
and Phil helped staff with any queries,
transferred data, and ensured that
everything was working smoothly.
As with any new installation, of course
there were some issues but I can truly
say that the changeover was very smooth
and trouble free. There were a few –
“we could do that in the old system”
but they were quite short lived.Although we had Anne (Pacsoft
consultant – in general ledger) come
over and set up the general ledger and
show us some areas this has taken more
time to adjust to than other areas.
Our
other store, which had been using
Pacsoft for Windows was upgraded without
any fuss and things have been very
smooth there as well.
Overall,
the new system is so much better –
more professional in its presentation
– invoices, statements etc and much
faster than the old classic and windows
systems. There have been some things
that needed fine tuning to suit our
specific needs but all of these have
been done quickly and efficiently by the
PACSOFT support team.
We
have been most impressed with both the
programme and the team at PACSOFT and
would recommend anyone who is thinking
of investing in the programme or
upgrading from an earlier version to
contact me or call in and see the system
working in our store. We are still
relatively new to this system – only
some 5 months since we changed over -
but we would be more than happy to share
our experience with others.
